This item consists of copies of correspondence, minutes, and consultations cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay. These political letters appear in IOR/F/4/2174/105546. It is the forty-fifth in a series of forty-five items on the Persian Gulf.
The correspondents are: the Government of Bombay; Major Samuel Hennell, Resident in the Persian Gulf; Captain Sir Robert Oliver, Superintendent of the Indian Navy; and Major General David Barr, Military Auditor General.
The item concerns the claim made by Lieutenant Rennie for the expenses incurred in accommodating the Count de Medem [Count Aleksandr Medem], formerly Russian Ambassador to the Court of Persia [Iran], on board the Honourable Company’s schooner Constance during its journey from Bushire [Bushehr] to Bussora [Basra].
