This item consists of copies of correspondence, consultations, and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay. The correspondents are: the Government of Bombay; Major Samuel Hennell, British Political Resident in the Persian Gulf; Hajee Yacoob [Ḥājjī Ya‘qūb], the Government Pilot at Kharg [Jazireh-ye Khark]; the British Agent at Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh]; Houssein bin Abdoollah Chief of Charrack [Ḥusayn bin ‘Abdullāh, Shaikh of Bandar-e Charak]; and Sultan bin Houssein Chief of Mogoo [Sulṭān bin Ḥusayn, Shaikh of Moghuyeh]. It is the first in a series of eleven items.
The item concerns naval hostilities between Charrack and Mogoo, and the shaikhs’ explanation of events. The item also contains Hennell’s instructions to Captain William Lowe, commanding the Indian Naval Squadron in the Persian Gulf, about demanding the restitution of the Mogoo boats captured by Charrack.
