- This item comprises copies of an enclosure to a despatch from the Government of Bombay [Mumbai] Secret Department to the Secret Committee, Number 75 of 1847, dated 31 August 1847. The enclosure is dated 16 August 1847 and consists of a letter from Captain Stafford Bettesworth Haines, Political Agent at Aden, to Arthur Malet, Secretary to the Government, Bombay, reporting on the state of affairs at Aden and the vicinity, notably the reinstatement of the salary of Sultan Mahomed Houssein Fudthel of Lahidge [Sultan Muḥsin bin Faḍl al-'Abdalī , Sultan of Lahej].
