The item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence, minutes and resolutions, cited in, or enclosed with, an extract of a Political Letter from the Government of Bombay to the East India Company Court of Directors, 30 October 1850.
The item relates to an ongoing financial claim made by Sarkees Satoor, an Armenian merchant at Tehran, against Mrs [Taguhi] Shee, widow of the late Colonel Basil Shee. An update regarding payments made in favour of Sarkees Satoor is provided by Lieutenant-Colonel Francis Farrant, HM Chargé d'Affaires at Tehran, to the Government of Bombay. The Government consequently provides further instructions for processing this payment to Edward Eden Elliot, Accountant General, and also furnishes the Government of India with copies of the above correspondence.
Sarkees Satoor is also rendered in text as Sarkies Satoor, Sartoor Sorkees, and Sartoor Sarkees. Farrant is also referred to as HM Envoy to Persia [Iran].
