This part of the volume consists of copies of enclosures to a despatch from the Government of Bombay Secret Department to the Secret Committee, Number 76 of 1850, dated 16 December 1850. The enclosures are numbered 3-15 and are dated 4 June-16 December 1850.
The papers relate to affairs in the Persian Gulf including:
- Consideration by British officials of an appropriate response (including a blockade) to a ‘disrespectful message’ sent by the Ruler of Bahrein [Shaikh Muḥammad bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah of Bahrain] to the Resident in the Persian Gulf
- The British assessment that the written apology furnished via the brother [Shaikh ‘Alī bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah] of the Ruler of Bahrein was satisfactory
- The expressed wish of the Imaum of Muscat [Sayyid Sa‘īd bin Sulṭān Āl Bū Sa‘īd, Imām of Muscat, also written as Muskat in this item] to conduct an expedition against the Ruler of Bahrein and the Government of India’s refusal to sanction such an expedition.
