This item consists of copies of correspondence, resolutions, and consultations cited in, or enclosed with, an extract of a Political Letter from the Government of Bombay to the East India Company Court of Directors, 27 November 1854. The enclosures are dated 30 March-4 April 1854.
The main correspondents are: the Government of Bombay; Mirza Houssin Khan [Mīrzā Muḥammad Ḥusayn Khān], Persian Consul in Bombay [Mumbai]; and Captain Sir Henry John Leeke, Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Navy.
The item concerns the departure of Mirza Houssin Khan on a leave of absence, and the decision to provide him with passage to the Persian Gulf on the Company vessel Ajdha [Ajdahā].
The item contains a table of contents (f 429), and the title page (f 428) contains the following references: Draft Number ’502/55’, ‘Collection No. 10 of No. 78 of 1854’ and ‘Examiner’s Office’. The collection number was originally given as ‘14’ but this has been crossed out and replaced with ‘10’.
