This item consists of copies of correspondence, resolutions, and consultations cited in, or enclosed with, extracts of Political Letters from the Government of Bombay to the East India Company Court of Directors, 26 May 1855. The enclosures are dated 9 September 1854-3 March 1855.
The item concerns information provided by Henry Young, Commissioner of Customs, Salt, and Opium, on the fees being levied by the Persian Consul at Bombay [Mumbai] on ships trading to the Persian Gulf, and on merchants transporting goods in these ships.
The item contains a table of contents (f 675), and the title page (f 674) contains the following references: Draft Number ‘944-1855’, ‘Collection No. 3’ and ‘Examiner’s Office’. The collection number was originally given as ‘6 of No. 46 of 1855’ but this has been crossed out and replaced with ‘3’.
