1. Extracts and summaries of letters in French, Italian, and Arabic from Constantinople [Istanbul] dated 10 September-30 September 1799, concerning transactions of cochineal involving British-employed ‘Tartars’ [couriers].
2. Letters from John Barker, Proconsul in Aleppo, to John Spencer Smith, Minister Plenipotentiary in Constantinople, and the Pasha [Governor] of Aleppo, dated 20 October-2 November 1799. The letters concern illicit trade carried out by British-employed ‘Tartars’, the sequestration of their goods by the Pasha [Governor] of Aleppo, and their punishment.
