This item contains copies of two letters:
1. A letter from Robert Rickards, Secretary to the Government of Bombay, to Harford Jones, Resident in Bagdad [Baghdad], sent from Bombay Castle [Mumbai] and dated 22 June 1801. The letter concerns a shipment of cannonballs from India requested by the Pashaw of Bagdad [Büyük Sulaymān Pāshā, Governor of Baghdad].
2. A copy of a letter from the Government of Bombay to Soleyman Pasha of Bagdad, dated 23 June 1801. The letter enquires after the Pashaw’s health, expressing concern at his employment of a French rather than a British doctor, and discusses military supplies requested by the Pashaw.
