This item contains copies of three letters:
1. A letter from Captain Thomas Megson, Commander of the ship Rahim Shah, to the Commander of any ship under English colours, sent from Muscat, and dated 7 October 1803.The letter describes an encounter with a French frigate at Muscat.
2. A letter from Captain Megson to Jonathan Henry Lovett, Resident in Bushire [Bushehr], sent from Muscat and dated 4 October 1803.The letter describes an encounter with a French ship at Muscat and measures taken by Megson to transmit mail safely to Bombay [Mumbai].
3. A letter from Jonathan Lovett to Samuel Manesty, Resident at Bussora [Basra], dated 28 October 1803, forwarding the above letters.
