This item contains copies of two letters:
1. A letter from Jonathan Henry Lovett, Resident in Bushire [Bushehr], to Samuel Manesty, Resident in Bussora [Basra], sent from Bushire and dated 1 December 1803.
Lovett reports that he has been summoned to the Court of Persia [Iran] in Tehran to address the issue of the death of Hajy Khulleel [Ḥājī Muḥammad Khalīl Khān Qazvīnī, Persian Ambassador to India] in Bombay [Mumbai], but that ill health has prevented him from travelling to Court. Lovett proposes that Manesty take over the mission to Tehran while Lovett takes over Manesty’s duties in Bussora.
2. A letter from Samuel Manesty to Jonathan Lovett, sent from Bussora and dated 17 December 1803. Manesty accepts Lovett’s proposal and states that he will shortly travel to Bushire.
