This item contains copies of two letters:
1. A letter from Samuel Manesty, Resident in Bussora [Basra], to Harford Jones, Resident in Bagdat [Baghdad], sent from Bussora and dated 18 December 1804. The letter concerns interference by the Bacha [‘Alī Pāshā al-Kahyah, Governor of Baghdad] in the transit of mail through Bagdat caused by a dispute between the Bacha and Jones.
2. A letter from Manesty to Jones, sent from Bussora and dated 28 December 1804. Manesty forwards various correspondence.
