- Physical Characteristics:
-
Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: 261 x 115; 266 x 202 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 320 x 420 mm.
Script: The Latin writing combines cursive and capital characters (see especially B, D, F, G, H, L, P, Q, R and S) and thus witnesses the substitution of minuscule for capital letters that occurred between the late 2nd and 4th centuries AD. The number of each book of Livy’s work is written in symbols at the centre of the column, before the summary. The lines mentioning the consuls of each new year are in ekthesis. Abbreviations are commonly employed in praenomina and titles; other abbreviations are rare.
Verso: Greek, Formal Mixed bookhand, Severe Style, sloping to the right, rather coarse and irregular. Occasional lectional signs and punctuation occur.
