Risālah al-manāmīyah رسالة المنامية
Masīḥī, ʻĪsá ibn Yaḥyá مسيحي، عيسى بن يحيى
- Scope & Content:
-
Treatise on dream interpretation here falsely attributed to Abū ʻAlī al-Ḥusayn ibn ʻAbd Allāh (أبو علي الحسين بن عبد الله), known as Ibn Sīnā (ابن سينا, latinised as Avicenna, d. 1037). The text is in fact by one of Ibn Sīnā's teachers, the physician ʻĪsá ibn Yaḥyá Abū Sahl al-Masīḥī al-Jurjānī (عيسى بن يحيى أبو سهل المسيحي الجرجاني, fl. 1010).
A cancelled colophon at the end of the text states that the copy was completed by Ibn Muḥammad Amīn Muḥammad Naṣīr al-Lāhijānī al-Gīlānī (ابن محمد أمين محمد نصير اللاهجاني الكيلاني) on Nowrūz, Wednesday 18 Ṣafar 1091/10 March 1680 for his patron Muḥammad Taqī ibn Muḥammad Ḥusayn al-Ḥakīm al-Gīlānī al-Lashteh-yi Nishāʾī (محمد تقي بن محمد حسين الحكيم الكيلاني اللشته نشائي), a resident of Akbarābād (Agra, f. 552r, lines 21-26, transcribed below). This colophon must have been copied from the exemplar since it predates the colophon of text 6 (f. 34v) by almost a century. A similar cancellation of concluding material copied from the exemplar but extraneous to the main body of the text is seen in item 7, above (f. 100v, lines 18-25; in that case not a colophon but editorial material appended to the Medicean 1593 printed edition of Avicenna's Kitāb al-najāh).
Cancelled colophon (f. 552r, lines 21-26):
