This part of the volume consists of copies of enclosures to a despatch from the Government of Bombay Secret Department to the Secret Committee, Number 61 of 1840, dated 28 August 1840. The enclosures are numbered 3-10 and are dated 10-24 August 1840.
They consist of correspondence relating to Persian Gulf affairs:
- A report on the field forces stationed at Karrack [Kharg]
- Translations of letters from the news writer at Shiraz
- A translation of a letter from the Government Agent at Bahrain stating that Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa [Shaikh Muḥammad bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah] continues to seek to establish himself at Katif [Al-Qatif] and Lahsah [Al Hasa]
- A translation of a letter from the Government Agent at Sharjah reporting the state of affairs in that part of the coast
- Correspondence relating to the reasons for the large amount of gunpowder expended in firing salutes for the Resident in the Persian Gulf
- A letter stating that the advice given to the Imam of Muscat as to how respond to the Commander of the French corvette La Dordogne (bearing a request from the French Government to establish a Consul) accorded exactly with the specific instructions from the Government in Bombay.
