- The arrival at Muscat of the French warship La Dordogne, with letters from the Governor of Bourbon [Réunion] and the Minister of the King of the French to the Imam of Muscat (which are enclosed in a letter from the Resident in the Persian Gulf, Captain Samuel Hennell, and are in French), regarding the establishment of a consular agent at Zanzibar
- The Native Agent at Shargah [Sharjah], Moollah Hussain [Mullā Ḥusayn], reporting events which had taken place on the Arabian Coast subsequent to the departure of the Resident in the Persian Gulf in May 1840

- Hennell instructing Commodore George Barnes Brucks, the officer commanding the Squadron of the Indian Navy in the Persian Gulf, as to the steps to be taken for resolving the dispute between the shaiks [shaikhs] of Debaye and Aboothabee
- Hennell’s recommendation to the Governor in Council of Bombay that the field detachment of troops recently stationed at Karrack [Kharg Island] be granted extra allowance in recognition of their conduct
- The movements of the Shah of Persia [Iran] with his army
- Brucks being requested by Hennell to instruct that all official communications with the Imam of Muscat by officers of the Squadron of the Indian Navy in the Persian Gulf should be made through Captain Atkins Hamerton, following his appointment as British Agent at Muscat, rather than through the Native Agent, Khojah Reuben [Khawājah Rūbin]
- The Government of India requesting the Government of Bombay to direct Hennell and the Political Agent at Aden, Captain Stafford Bettesworth Haines, to monitor the movements of the agent from the Ameers of Scinde [Amīrs of Sindh] to the Shah of Persia
- A letter addressed to the Imam of Muscat from the Governor-General of India, to be forwarded to him by the Government of Bombay, in reply to a letter from the Imam, regarding matters including the ‘encroachments’ of the ‘Chiefs of Negd’ in the surrounding territory.
The main correspondents are Hennell and the Government of Bombay. Other correspondents include: the Secretary to the Government of India; Brucks; the Imam of Muscat, Seid Said bin Sultan [Sayyid Sa‘īd bin Sulṭān Āl Bū Sa‘īd]; Hamerton; Moollah Hussain; Mirza Ruza [Mīrzā Rizā], the Reporter of Shiraz; and the Political Agent in Turkish Arabia [Ottoman Iraq], Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Taylor.
