A ‘general report on the various Arab tribes in the neighbourhood of Aden, with which the Government of India have Treaty relations, as called for by Government of India’s letter No. 1799 P, dated 25th August 1871’. The report is addressed by Major General Charles William Tremenheere, Resident at Aden, to the Secretary to the Government, Bombay, 20 January 1872. It is authored by the First Assistant Resident, Captain William Francis Prideaux and dated 19 January 1872, and contains ‘information regarding the past history, divisions, and sub-divisions with descriptions of the districts occupied by the several tribes and their mutual relations as called for’.
The report commences with a table listing ‘the Tribes in the vicinity of Aden having relations with the British Government’, followed by sections on:
