Annual administration report of the Aden Settlement, providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Administration of Aden during the financial year 1872-73. The report is addressed, in a covering memorandum, by Brigadier-General John Schneider, Political Resident, Aden, to the Secretary to the Government, Bombay, dated 19 May 1873. It is arranged by ‘headings’ embedded in the left side of the paragraphs. These headings normally state the part and section of the report. Also sometimes included after the headings are indented sub-headings which normally state a subject. Some of the parts and sections include tables of statistics.

Also included are nine appendices authored by William Frances Prideaux, Assistant Political Resident, Aden, dated 2 January 1873, comprising civil justice and criminal justice statistics (ff 57-66).

On folios 55-56 is the ‘Sanitary Report of the Station of Aden for the Year 1872-73’ authored by Surgeon-Major R W James, Senior Medical Officer, Indian Medical Department, Aden (ff 55-56).
