Annual administration report of the Aden Settlement, providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Administration of Aden during the financial year 1875-76. The report is addressed, in a covering memorandum dated 17 May 1876, by G R Goodfellow, Officiating Political Resident, Aden, to the Chief Secretary to the Government, Bombay. The report was printed at the Government Central Press, Bombay [Mumbai].

The main body of the report is headed ‘PART II’. The first part is not present. Part II of the report is divided into the following sections, some of which are further divided into sub-headings:

• ‘VII. – INSTRUCTION’ (f 106), consisting of: (a) Education; (b) Literature and the Press
• ‘IX. – MISCELLANEOUS’ (f 106), consisting of: (a) Ecclesiastical; Lahej Garden; Tawella [Tawila] Tanks; Shaikh Othman [Shaykh Uthman] Aqueduct; Tawella and Residency Garden.

The report includes nine appendices relating to political relations (with the ‘native states’ and ‘native chiefs’), and comprising criminal and civil justice statistics, authored by F M Hunter, Assistant Political Resident, Aden, dated 3 January 1876 (ff 108-114).

On folio 107 is the ‘Subsidiary Sanitary Report’ for the year ending 31 March 1876, authored by G W R Hay, Surgeon, Senior Medical Officer, Indian Medical Department, Aden.
