This item comprises copies of enclosures to a despatch from the Governor-General of India, Allahabad, Secret Department, to the East India Company Secret Committee, Number 30 of 1842, dated 17 August 1842. The enclosures are numbered 3-14 and dated 30 Jume-17 August 1842.
The enclosures relate to political and military affairs in Nipal [Nepal, also spelled Nepaul in this item] and Tibet. A note in blue pencil on folio 196, dated 8 August 1906, indicates that the first part of the abstract of contents is missing.
The correspondents include: Lord Ellenborough, Governor-General; the Heir Apparent of Nipal; Thomas Herbert Maddock, the Secretary to the Government of India with the Governor-General; B H Hodgson, Resident in Nipal; and G T Lushington, Lieutenant Government’s Agent in Keman [Kumaon].
