Enclosures to a despatch from the Government of Bombay Secret Department to the Secret Committee, Number 45 of 1847, dated 1 May 1847. The enclosures are dated 18 to 29 April 1847 and contain correspondence relating to affairs in Aden.

Papers comprise correspondence from the Political Agent at Aden addressed to the Government of Bombay regarding: recent disturbances in Lahidge [Lahej]; assessments of the impact on trade and supplies to Aden; suspicions that disturbances will spread to Aden through the ‘treachery’ of the Chief of Lahidge; restrictions on the daily entry into Aden placed on non-European men from specific tribes for the purpose of trade alone, while women and children are permitted to stay for short periods to ‘escape the ravages of war’; the Military Department sanctions works in the town of Aden; and a schedule of costs and descriptions of tasks and their locations is submitted by the Executive Engineer.

There is a note in red ink on folio 426 indicating enclosures 10-11 are missing, dated 30 October 1906.
