This part of the volume consists of copies of enclosures to a despatch from the Government of Bombay Secret Department to the Secret Committee, Number 23 of 1854, dated 14 April 1854. The enclosures are numbered 3-11 and are dated 1 July 1848-31 March 1854.
The papers relate to affairs in the Persian Gulf including:
- The fall of Bunder Abass [Bandar-e Abbas] to the Persian troops.
- Instructions for the guidance of the Commander of the steam frigate Ajdaha for proceeding to the Persian Gulf.
The correspondents include the Resident in the Persian Gulf, Captain Arnold Burrowes Kemball (and later Major Samuel Hennell); Governor of Muscat, Syed Soweynee [Sayyid Thuwaynī bin Sa‘īd Āl Bū Sa‘īd]; Agent at Lingah, Mullah Ahmed [Mullā Aḥmad]; Secretary to the Government of India; Commander of the Persian Gulf Squadron, Commodore George Robinson; and the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Navy, Sir Henry John Leeke.
