A map displaying ‘Area 8’ of the Military Report on Mesopotamia [Iraq]. The area, outlined in black on the map, spans roughly between Birijik [Birecik], Hogena [Huknah], Mush [Muş], and Kharput [Harput], and includes Diarbekr [Diyarbakir], Mardin, and Urfa.
Settlements are indicated in black. Hydrology is indicated in blue. Roads are indicated in red, with different line patterns indicating metalled and unmetalled roads. Telegraphs, railways, and possible landing grounds for aircraft are indicated in black with different line patterns. The names of local tribes are indicated in red. Other areas, described in different volumes of the Military Report, are indicated in black.
The map bears the printing statement ‘Compiled by A[rmy]. H[ead]. Q[uarters]. Baghdad Reg No 1041’, and was reproduced by the Survey Directorate, Baghdad.
