- The map shows part of the Arabian Peninsula occupied by the Rub al Khali desert. The map also indicates hydrology and settlements, with brief descriptions of topography and vegetation, and provides some indication of relief. A short note to the left of the map describes the map compilation methodology and a glossary of Arabic terms is given. A key indicates Philby's route in his expeditions of 1917 and 1918, and 1932.
