Despatch from the Foreign Department, Government of India, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 7 of 1870, dated 25 January 1870, containing enclosures dated 14 November 1869-13 January 1870.
The enclosures consist of copies of correspondence relating to a British expedition against Bahrein [Bahrain] to remove a force which occupied the island and killed its ruler Shaik Alee bin Khalifah [Shaikh ‘Alī bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah], the successful bombardment of the Fort of Manamah [Manama] and arrest of the leaders of the occupation, and the restoration of Shaik Alee’s son Esau-bin-Ali [‘Īsá bin ‘Alī Āl Khalīfah].
The correspondence also covers a complaint by a Persian [Iranian] official that his agent was prevented by the British from landing at Bahrein or delivering letters there.
