Despatch from the Foreign Department, Government of India, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 28 of 1870, dated 20 May 1870, containing enclosures dated 6 March-8 April 1870.
The enclosures consist of copies of correspondence relating to: a complaint from the Government of Persia [Iran] that an agent carrying letters to Bahrein [Bahrain] was prevented by the British from landing, and the letters confiscated; and a complaint from Midhut Pasha [Aḥmad Shafīq Midḥat Pāshā], Ottoman Governor-General of Baghdad, that the recent attack on Bahrein was dealt with by the British rather than referred to the Ottoman Government, who he claims have dominion over Bahrein.
The correspondents are: Midhut Pasha; the British Chargé d’Affaires, Tehran; and the Political Agent, Turkish Arabia [Ottoman Iraq].
