In the foreground is the hostel and three cottages, used by Boyden staff and visitors. The shadow of an aeroplane is visible near them. The centre of the frame shows the sloping hillside and what appears to be a trail. The Observatory can be seen at the top of the frame; the 60-inch enclosure is out of frame to the left. The Residence can be seen clearly; several palm trees are visible in the garden to the east. The trees between the Office Building and the row of telescope enclosures are slightly taller than the buildings. Writing on back identifies structures and features shown: hostel, three cottages, pine trees, Residence, Office. PB10_0037 and PB13_0039 are from the same original.
