Correspondence, dated 14December 1869-13 January 1870, relating to the subsidy paid by the Sultan ofZanzibar to the Sultan of Muscat since the separation of the two realms in1856. The correspondence particularly discusses whether the current Sultan ofZanzibar, Syud Madjid [Sayyid Mājid bin Sa‘īd Āl Bū Sa‘īd],should be expected to continue paying the subsidy after the overthrow of hisnephew Syud Saleem [Sayyid Sālim bin Thuwaynī Āl Bū Sa‘īd] as Sultan of Muscat,and the potential effect upon the allowance paid to Syud Madjid’s brother SyudToorkee [Sayyid Turkī bin Sa‘īd Āl Bū Sa‘īd] in return for his remaining inIndia. A copy of the agreement to that allowance between Syud Saleem and SyudToorkee, dated September 1867, is included on folio 733.
