Despatch from the Foreign Department, Government of India, to theSecretary of State for India, No. 23 of 1869, dated 16 November 1869,containing enclosures dated 9 October-14 November 1869.
The enclosures consist of copies of correspondence relatingto an incident in which HM Gun Boat Clyde was fired uponfrom the fort at Muscat, including accounts of the incident, explanations givenby members of the Government of Muscat, and discussions over actions to take ifa formal apology and reparations are not given.
The primary correspondents are: the PoliticalAgent, Muscat; E Elton, commanding HM Gun Boat Clyde; the Government of Bombay;and the Government of India.
