Heraldry collection of descents, and some arms.
At the beginning of the volume is the start of a collection of gifts and confirmations of arms, limited to those of Wheeler of London, goldsmith, descended out of Worcestershire, and Peers of Westdowne, Kent.
Manuscript consists of miscellaneous descents (and in some cases arms): Whetham, and Blincarne, attested by William Ryley, Lancaster Herald; Aylmer; Gray; Taylor; Buckoke; Palmer of Okingham, attested by William Ryley; Gill of Hertfordshire; Oxwick, attested by William Ryley; Thornton of Yorkshire; Croft of Yorkshire with arms and crest as granted by William Ryley, Norroy.
At the other end of the book in the same hands are some roughly sketched arms and descents, as follows: Hobildey; Keblewhite, approved by William Ryley, Norroy; Arthur Plantagenet, natural son to King Edward IV; Comport; Holmes; Ellys of Chiselhurst; Hobildey; Buckbridge; Chowning, or Chevening, Kent, as attested by Sir William Segar, Garter; Norfolk, descended from Porter.

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (1661-1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (1689-1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (1694-1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (1715-1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
Former owner: William Shires, arms painter of Southwark (Wright, Fontes Harleiani, p. 304).
