This item comprises copies of a despatch and enclosures from the Government of India, Foreign Department, to the Duke of Argyll, HM Secretary of State for India, Number 15 of 1873, dated 31 January 1873. The enclosures are dated from 30 December 1872 to 23 January 1873, consist of printed correspondence, and concern political matters connected to the Persian Gulf, Zanzibar, and Sind [Sindh]. The correspondence is between the Government of India, Foreign Department, and the Government of Bombay.

The correspondence relates to the decision to transfer control over political relations in the Persian Gulf, Zanzibar, and Sind, with some discussion of appropriate salaries for the political officers involved. Included are schedules containing details of the different classes of political appointment and their corresponding salaries, and letters from the Government of India to the offices concerned: the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf; the Political Agent, Zanzibar; and the Commissioner in Sind.
