- This item comprises copies of a secret despatch with enclosures from the Government of India, Foreign Department, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 35 of 1872, dated 17 May 1872. The enclosures consist of telegrams, dated 10 May 1872, from the Political Secretary, Government of Bombay, to the Foreign Secretary, Government of India. The telegrams relay messages from the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf and the Assistant Political Agent, Gwadur [Gwadar], reporting the re-occupation of Gwadur by Thowaynee [Thuwaynī bin Muḥammad Āl Bū Sa‘īd], the Wazeer [wazīr, minister] of Sultan Syud Toorkee [Sayyid Turkī bin Sa‘īd Āl Bū Sa‘īd] of Muscat, with three hundred men.
