- This item comprises copies of a political despatch and enclosures from the Government of India, Foreign Department, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 121 of 1872, dated 10 June 1872. The enclosures date from 6 to 25 May 1872, and consist of letters from the Government of Bombay and Colonel Lewis Pelly, Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, reporting the appointment of Raoof Pasha [Mehmet Rauf Pasha] as Governor-General of Turkish Arabia [Ottoman Iraq] (also referred to as the Wali of Baghdad).
