Despatch from the Foreign Department, Government of India, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 224 of 1873, dated 26 December 1873, containing enclosures dated 4 September-26 December 1873.
The enclosures consist of copies of correspondence relating to relations between Bahrain [also written as Bahrein] and tribes on the Guttur [Qatar] coast, and British instructions of the necessity that the 'Chief' of Bahrain abstain, as far as practicable, from interfering in affairs on the Arabian mainland.
The principal correspondents are: the Secretary of State for India; the Secretary to the Government of India; the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Bushire [Bushehr]; the Acting Political Resident in the Persian Gulf; Colonel Lewis Pelly; and the First Assistant Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Bahrein.
