View of a circular monument surrounded by columns and city below, in the background, are hills and Arthur's Seat. Burn's Monument is modelled on the ancient Choragic Monument on Lysicrates in Athens. Designed by Thomas Hamiton and built in 1830-31.
Albumen print; Print yellowed; loss of highlight detail, most pronounce at centre; ink spots on left area; silver mirroring; various creases and crescent shaped indentations throughout.
Inscription in pencil on verso of print: '292', ' Burns Monut & Arthur seat'
Partial blue ink stamp on verso of print, left corner: 'Photographer to the Queen, Dundee'.
