Close view of a mosaic work box in the form of a shrine, 'one of those used to keep manuscripts and came from a monastery in Upper Burma. The colours employed are dull green and lead colour, relieved here and there with a sober red.' In the photogravure version of this book, published in 1901, the background has been masked out.
