Inscribed on the picture with identifications of the ‘rishis’ in Sanskrit in nagari characters.
Drawing with water-colour on paper; circular; border uncoloured; extensions on two sides.
305 mm diameter; page 385 by 385 mm.
The constellation of Saptarishi or the Seven Sages, otherwise known as Ursa Major or the Great Bear; the seven ‘rishis’ are represented seated around one side of a circle of sky, on the other side are clouds revealing stars and a crescent moon.
