The map, signed A T Wilson [Lieutenant Arnold Talbot Wilson], accompanies copies of a memorandum (ff 48-49, ff 50-51) written by the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Lieutenant-Colonel Percy Zachariah Cox, and provides detail of the lands in the vicinity of the Turco-Persian border, between Mohammerah [Khorramshahr] and Basra. Land on the Persian side of the border is shown in greatest detail, with the coastline of the Shatt-al-Arab, adjoining canals and waterways, and villages indicated. Areas of jurisdiction and ownership are also indicated with dotted lines, while the Turco-Persian border is shown as a dotted-dashed line. The town of Mohammerah is shown in detail, with customs, post and telegraph offices, quarantine station, the premises of European commercial concerns (Lynch Brothers, Robert Wonckhaus) and telegraph line marked.
