The map is signed by Major Ely Banister Soane, British Vice-Consul at Qaşr-e Shīrīn, and dated 9 November 1912. It indicates Anglo-Persian Oil Company facilities on the Turco-Persian border, around the Chia Surkh [Chiyā Sarkh] oil field and Qasr-i-Shirin [Qaşr-e Shīrīn]. The map indicates: cart roads made by APOC, other routes passable by carts, ordinary tracks and routes, oil borings, refinery and shops (presumably workshops), pumping station and depot. Place names and the names of topographic features are also marked on the map. Mountainous terrain is marked in purple ink.

The map should be read in conjunction with printed copies of correspondence immediately preceding it in the volume (f 90), and a copy of an earlier map of the region (dated 1852) immediately following it (f 91). A note alongside the map, signed with the initials E P, states the difficulties found in trying to establish the borders claimed by the Persian, Ottoman and Mediating Commissioners, as defined on the 1852 map (f 91).
