- Sketchmap of Kaffiristan [Nuristan] by Peter Stark Lumsden, a member of theKandahar Mission, a British diplomatic mission to Afghanistan. A note on the map states that 'The Cabul [Kabul] River and position of Jelalabad [Jalalabad] etc. are taken from the Surveyor General's Office Map of Afghanistan 1840, that of Farajghan from Walker's D[itt]o D[itt]o 1844, and the rest filled in from Kaffir [Nuristani] description.' The map indicates topography, hydrography and settlements.
