Railway Dispatches from the Secretary of State for India
Scope & Content:
The majority of the dispatches are addressed to the Government of India, a small number to the Government of Madras or Bombay. Volumes IOR/L/AG/46/43/1-4 (1883-1887) also contain copies of dispatches concerning Public Works and Telegraphs.
Note: Volumes 2, 3 and 6-24 cannot be found. The proposal to form a Gold Reserve Fund was adopted late in 1900, and these guard books contain letters, minutes, copies of despatches etc about investments and sales, stock certificates and various accounts.
Inventories and accounts of deceased estates - Bengal, Madras and Bombay
Scope & Content:
The inventories are lists of articles, belonging to individual estates, sold at public auction, giving the names of the purchasers and amounts realised. Estate accounts are often filed with the inventories. The numbers IOR/L/AG/34/27/251-52 and IOR/L/AG/34/27/386 were not used
