Latin inscription upon a lamina of lead, in shape and rudely rectangular; consisting of seventeen lines in capital letters. Originally inscribed upon a lamina of lead hammered to a very thing leaf, and from its appearance in 1872, not as pure as the others of the series. At the time, it was remarked that it was very much oxidized by the action of the air, and glued to a piece of card for security.

Title:
Recovery of Pavia by Charlemagne
Scope & Content:
A recording of the recovery of Pavia from the Lombards by Charlemagne in the year 774. It is stated that this record was originally written in Latin, by Orso Hipato da Heraclia, and was caused to be translated by Marin Dandulo, Procurator of St. Mark at Venice, in 1202.

Thin plate of hammered lead of rectangular shape. The edge is mutilated on the left side, and the centre of the lower edge is split; bearing an Italian inscription consisting of thirty-one lines in capital letters (particularly angular character).

A very thin leaf of hammered lead, rectangular in shape, now much cracked and oxidized. Bearing a Latin inscription consisting of thirteen lines in capital letters. Two horizontal lines followed by a small gap, followed by 9 lines with a small gap before the final two lines with the monograph of Charlemagne at its conclusion.

The edge has been mutilated, and the left-hand upper corner is wanting; bearing a Latin inscription, contained in twenty-one lines, with a character corresponding to that of the previous inscriptions.
