Aurelius Heron, through his brother Phibion, Aurelius Philammon and Aurelius Hermes, councillors of Hermopolis and official distributors of provisions of Philae, acknowledge receipt of wine for the soldiers under the prefect Trajan.

Fragment of a papyrus sheet, broken off at the bottom, with few small holes and some surface damage in places; written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. 13 lines from the top of a column survive, and traces of another line at the bottom. Upper and side margins are extant. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Nomination of Water-Guards (P.Lond. III 1246, TM 22859)
Scope & Content:
Two copies of a return from two village heads (komarchai), listing individuals nominated for the water-control (hydrophylakia); written by Aurelius Anubas. The recipients are lost, but were Flavius Olympiodorus alias Asyncritius and Achilleus, superintendents of the dykes (see Papyri 1247 and 1248).

Two papyrus sheets, written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank; mounted on cardboard in the same glass frame.

Left papyrus (A): Broken off at the top and damaged by insect holes throughout; one column of which 24 lines survive; part of the left margin remains, the lower is extant and measures 70 mm, and no margin was left to the right.

Right papyrus (B): Broken off at the top and mutilated especially on the left-hand side; one column of which portions of 31 lines remain. Left and lower margins partly survive, and no margin was left on the right.

Two papyrus sheets, pale-brown, written on one side, the back being blank; mounted on cardboard in the same glass frame.

Left papyrus (A): Complete but damaged by insect holes and abrasion throughout; one column with 29 lines written along the fibres; all margins are extant, the right being minimal.

Right papyrus (B): Mutilated, with holes, abrasion and other surface damage throughout; made of two sheets, with the left-hand one displaying vertical fibres; on this sheet, the writing is against the fibres. There are 28 incomplete lines, with an interlinear addition. Upper, lower and right margins are extant, while the left is damaged.

Aurelius Apollon, a village official (gnoster) of the village of Pois, submits a list of farmers eligible for the collection of taxes to Flavius Olympiodorus alias Asyncritius, praepositus of the first pagus of the Hermopolite nome.

Papyrus sheet, light-brown, complete but with holes and surface damage throughout; written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. A small detached fragment is visible at the bottom of the frame. On the front, there are 24 lines, some fragmentary, especially at the bottom. Margins are extant, with no margin on the right. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Scope & Content:
Schedule of meat, wine, barley and chaff to be collected for the military annona from Hermopolite villages of the fifteenth administrative unit (pagus) for the fourteenth indiction of an unknown year. The list is arranged by villages, and the entries include goods and quantities.

Papyrus sheet of good quality, broken off to the right and with some breaks; written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. On the front there are two columns: the first is complete and has 16 lines, the second has the beginnings of 21 lines, with the last one only having a small trace. At least one column is lost. Upper, left and lower margins survive. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Papyrus sheet, medium-dark brown, with light-brown patches; complete but with small insect holes; written on both sides along the fibres. The front bears one column of 20 lines, with the last 4 lines indented; all margins are extant. A sheet-join runs from top to bottom at 15-20 mm from the right edge. On the back, there are 5 lines written in the upper part of the sheet. The ink is faded. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

There are 3 columns; of the first, only the ends of the lines remain; the second is complete and the third is damaged on the right. Upper and lower margins survive. Sheet-joins run vertically at 25 mm from the left and 80 mm from the right. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.
