The region is notorious for malaria; the Collector would not allow the Bakes to stay overnight in the Travellers Bungalow. In that notorious T. Coorg. Ponampet, three of the four singers of nr. 127 taken en profil. The drums have the usual hour-glass shape, varying in pitch according to the tension of the ropes by the hands of the players.
