GEORGE BARKER PAPERS: poems, prose, drama, correspondence and related papers of George Granville Barker (b.1913, d.1991), poet, novelist, dramatist and essayist; circa 1933-1954, n.d. Partly autograph, partly signed, partly typewritten, partly printed, partly copies. The collection consists mainly of drafts of poems, prose, plays and dramatic sketches by George Barker. Some parts are in the hand of George's brother Albert Gordon Barker ('Kit' or 'Gordon' Barker), and in two unidentified hands. There are annotations and sketches throughout. Several of the poems are not published in George Barker, Collected Poems (1987). See George Barker, Essays (1970) and Homage to George Barker on His Sixtieth Birthday, ed., John Heath-Stubbs and Martin Green (1973). For further George Barker material, see Add. 56257.
