SIR WALTER RALEGH: Documents and letters of and relating to him, with other tracts relating to public affairs; temp. Eliz. I-James I[1558-1625]. Contemporary copies. These manuscripts were purchased at various times by Annie Winifred Bryher, née Ellerman (d. 1983), and presented to Agnes Latham (1905-1996), editor of Ralegh's Poems (1929). Other manuscripts that came into Miss Latham's possession apparently from the same source were Bacon Frank MS B. 3, described in the Sixth Report of the Historical Manuscripts Commission, 1877, Appendix, p. 459, and sold at Sotheby's, 11 Aug. 1942, lot 70, a copy of Ralegh's 'A Dialogue between a Counsellor of State and a Justice of the Peace . . .', and John Keymor's 'Book of Observations touching Trade', circa 1620. Presented, in accordance with Miss Latham's wishes, following Additional MS 72709 above, by Professor Joyce Youings in January 1997.
