SCUDAMORE PAPERS: further papers of John Scudamore, 1st Viscount Scudamore 1628, Ambassador to France 1635-1639, supplementing Add. MSS. 11041-11059, 11689, 11690, 11816, 35097, 35207. The present papers were included in the sale of part of the library from Holme Lacy in 1821 (Evans's sale-cat., 3 Dec. 1821, lot 397, etc.) and were subsequently acquired from Thomas Thorpe, the bookseller, by Sir Thomas Phillipps, Bart. (Phillipps MSS. 287, vols. i-iii, 2410, 22280-22285: Sotheby's, 16 June 1896, lots 1048-1050, 1057-1059; 28 April 1911, lot 926). Bertram Dobell's cat. no. 238, 1914, item 603.
