Vols. I, II (for vols. III, IV see Add. MSS. 43739, 43740 below). Thirty-six letters of John Wesley to his friend, Miss Ann Tindall, of Scarborough (b. 1747, d. 1806); 6 July 1774-23 Feb. 1790. Autograph. Illustrative material, consisting mainly of verse referred to in the letters, is interspersed, together with notes (not always accurate) by Mrs Juliet Mary Morse, second cousin of the donor 13 BM
(cf. Add. MS. 43739, f. ib). None of the letters are included in the standard edition of the Letters of the Rev. John Wesley, ed. J. Telford, 8 vols., 1931. See Proceedings of the Wesley Historical Society, xix, 1934, pp. 188-193, where some extracts from the letters are printed, and Brit. Mus. Quart., viii, 1933-1934, PP. 135-137. For the recipient and her family see The Tindalls of Scarborough, by her great-grandnephew, Christian Tindall, 1927, pp. 34-36 and passim. Paper. Two volumes. XVIII-XX centt. Quarto. With vols. III, IV (Add. MSS. 43739, 43740) formed part of a collection formerly owned by John Tindall, of Cotmaton House, Sidmouth (d. 20 Dec. 1933). Presented by his son, Christian Tindall, Esq., C.I.E., in fulfilment of his father's wishes.
