Scope & Content:

Other manuscripts of the poet in the Department are chiefly in Add. MSS. 27901, 27902, 34046, 34225, 35343, 35344, 36532, 50824, 50847, Eg. MSS. 2800, 2801, 2825, 2826, 3057, and Ashley MSS. 3506, 4771. See Brit. Mus. Quart., xvi, 1951-1952, pp. 91-93. The papers comprise material which accumulated at Ottery St Mary, Devon, in the hands of descendants of Coleridge's eldest brother James. For other papers of the family from the same source now in the Bodleian Library (MSS. Eng. lett. c. 142-3, d. 126-137), see the Bodleian Library Record, iv, 1952-1953, pp. 2-3. The names of the writers of letters, etc., are given in the Index to the present Catalogue. Sixty-three volumes. Various sizes. Presented (together with a collection of printed books from Coleridge's library, mostly with marginalia, now transferred to the Department of Printed Books) by the Pilgrim Trust.
