Notes on the lives and works of Palassios and Nathanael Chikas. A note on the death of Theophanes Xenakios, Metropolites of Philadelphia on 19 February 1632 and the election of Nikodemos Metaxas, Archbishop of Cephallonia, as his successor on 21 April 1632. An introductory letter from Nathanael Chikas to George Hegoumenos, dated 13 December 1619. Verses and a speech addressed to Theophanes Xenakios, Metropolites of Philadelphia. Τhe speech was apparently delivered by Theodoros Tzanphournares in the Orthodox Church of St. George, Venice, either in late December 1619 or early in 1620.

- Foliation: ff 63 + iv, plus single unfoliated blanks after ff 8, 19, 38 and four fragments of other Greek MSS. partly in the hand of Nikolaos Karatzas that formed part of an earlier binding and are now bound after f 62.
- Dimensions: 170 x 113mm.
- Binding: Half calf leather binding with brown paper and leather corners, early 19th century.
- Scribes: Three Greek hands: (1) ff 1-1v, the hand responsible for the first campaign in Add MS 8233; (2) ff 2-3v, Nikolaos Karatzas; (3) ff 4-62.
- Custodial History:
- Owned by Nikolaos Karatzas (fl. 1730-1784), logothete of the Patriarch of Constantinople, who copied the texts on ff 2-3v. Armorial bookplate of the Hon. Frederic North, later 5th Earl of Guilford, inscribed in ink 'No 353’ (listed as such in the catalogue of Guilford’s Greek books, Add MS 16572, f 39). '550’, '389’ and 'u.a.L/10/A’ in pencil at top of front pastedown. '353’ in pencil at the foot of f 1.
